This is going to be random

I've been quite absent from blogging. Finals kicked my butt so I high tailed out of Seattle to veg-out at home in LA. Spring Break couldn't have been better: lots of reading, lots of sleeping, lots of friends = perfect.

I checked my e-mail maybe twice over the course of the week and now that I'm back in Seattle and getting into the swing of things once again (and for the last time I might add) there were several things that I wanted to share...but was just too lazy.

So this is going to be random. It's just several things that could have sparked several blogs... but I'm mushing it all into one.

  • Sales Tax Increase: If you live in Los Angeles, sales tax is going up 1% tomorrow. So if you didn't go out and buy that car or TV today, it will be more expensive tomorrow. GREAT.
  • Rejection: Found this link. Apparently someone in the admissions office at UCSD really screwed up. An acceptance e-mail was reportedly sent out to 28,000 students who haven't really gotten into the school.
  • Sexting: I began a blog about this a while ago and never got around to finishing it. Now it's all over the news. Apparently teens are getting in trouble for sending provocative picture messages via their cell phones. This really makes me cringe. I read an article about a 12 year old girl getting in trouble for it. When I was twelve I was too busy worrying about being an awkward tom boy. I can't even imagine what young girls are thinking right now if they are comfortable enough to take naked pictures of themselves. It's just not right.
  • Books: Thanks to a link posted by a friend on facebook this amazing website was brought to my attention. Being the book lover that I am I couldn't help the excitement. It's an entire website with pictures to the most amazing bookstores in the world. All I know is that they all take my breath away... a travel idea perhaps? I should add it to my life list - make a list and visit the most spectacular bookstores around the world. (The idea makes me excited! can I go now please?)
  • The Boston Typewriter Orchestra: yes. Typewriter Orchestra. I don't know why I found this. I just spend too much time on youtube. And if I'm intrigued enough I do a google search until I am no longer interested. Anyway I came across this typewriter orchestra. The quality of the sound on the video isn't that great. But yes this group of people make some pretty cool beats on typewriters. The quality is better if you listen to this quicktime link.

okay. That is all for now. I could probably keep going for about a dozen different things...but I'll save them for the future. I hope you enjoyed and it's good to be back.
