A New Calendar
Usually my first post of the new year is a reflection on the previous. I like to look back and think about the highs, take what I can from the lows, and remember everything that I loved about the year.
This year I'm not going to do that. It's 9 days into the new year and I've yet to write anything down. I've been a little busy and quite honestly my mind has been distracted by the excitement of whats to come in the future. The first week of 2012 has already shown a lot of promise! I kicked it off with a great New Years Eve party (although small) with family and loved ones. And the next day went on a whirlwind of a trip to Las Vegas, which wasn't exactly what it was supposed to be, but filled with memories and laughter for a lifetime.
So I've decided not to look back. I already had a conversation before 2011 came to an end with JL and we decided that our year was wonderful. The best one we've had in a long time. No great lows and no great highs -- just a steady line and overall very happy, busy, healthy, blessed, and loved year. So that is where I will leave 2011.
Now that I am already NINE days into the new year and have not thought once about a resolution or should I say resolutions I can't think of a better time than now to do so. But before I get into all that goal setting lets talk about the calendar. Now, most people have probably already purchased their 2012 calendars months ago. Or maybe they just picked out the first one they saw on sale at the check out line in the grocery store immediately following the new year.
Nope. Not me. I put a lot of importance in choosing my calendar. After all, it's got to have enough room in the boxes to jot down all of the important things. It has to hold more weight than just appointments and schedules. It is potentially going to contain every loved one's birthday, every fun date that might come up, every holiday, every party, every potential moment of good(or bad) memory that the universe is going to throw at you for the ENTIRE year.
This is serious business. It can't just be the first thing you see because of a pretty picture either. I mean think about it, you've gotta have this thing with the same theme on your wall to look at every day for the ENTIRE year! So you better make sure you really love it!
Now that you understand how important it is to get the right 2012 calendar I wish you good luck on your venture. Hopefully I'll be able to decide on the perfect one before February. :)
Happy 2012 all! I hope you have a prosperous, wonderful year full of love, health and happiness.
And happy Calendar searching...
