How to: Plan the perfect wedding in 72 hours

Follow these steps for a perfect wedding:
1. decide to marry
2. google: "how do we get married?"
3. pick a place
4. buy dress on amazon
5. tell people
6. find restaurant with happy hour and margaritas (Tequila is very important!)
7. drive to place
8. get married

And there you have it. A wedding in 72 hours.

I wrote a lot during that week. I didn't feel like I was ready to share any of it. There were A LOT of feelings that I'm going to spare you all from. So, here's the cliff notes version.

...Sailing...

My mom told me a very long time ago that falling in love feels like sailing. It's easy and blissful and it should always feel like you are sailing. The hard part happens later in life. And even then it's not hard because you don't love each other or that you aren't supposed to be together. It's hard because sometimes life just brings stormy weather. You can't avoid that.

For the last decade that's what we've been doing...sailing. It's always been easy.

We decided on a Friday that we were ready to get married. We called our best friend on Saturday and asked if he'd officiate. "Yeah dude, of course."

Tuesday we got our license and I found a dress on Amazon.

We told our families and a few friends. I asked for a few days off of work and we hit the road.

On Monday, February 5th we stood outside of a courthouse in front of a handful of our closest people (+ some random tourists)

We made a promise...

Jose, I promise to be faithful, supportive, and loyal. To give you my love throughout all the changes of our life. I vow to bring you happiness, and will treasure you as my companion. I will celebrate the joys of life with you. I promise to support your dreams and walk beside you. Offering courage and strength through all endeavors. From this day forward I will be proud to be your wife and your best friend.
