care/giv/er?
What is a caregiver? According to Google:
"A family member or paid helper who regularly takes care of a child or a sick, elderly, or disabled adult."
I'm still not sure what any of this means... The day we were in the hospital it seemed clear. "You have cancer" echoed through the room and there was only one option. We would take care, be caregivers, give care, provide care [care, care, care...] there was no question or reason to do anything else but take on this role.
Now that the dust has settled into a routine of medications and visits to the hospital...what does this mean?
Some days it's hard to remember the compassion and patience to continually provide this care that I am not trained or equipped or educated enough to provide. But still we continue to give care the best way we know how.
And I pray and I hope that it is good enough...
