An unofficial official announcement
Okay, I agree, that sounds a little confusing. But there are some things that I can't officially announce. However I'd like to make an official commitment before I talk myself out of it (which as of today we're at about 60/40).
This week I will begin training for the LA Marathon in March.
...
Hold on. I have to say that again.
This week I will begin training for the Los Angeles Marathon on March 9, 2014.
... .... ....
Yup. You read that right! I've decided to do this for many reasons. The most important reason is the one I'm most excited about but can't officially announce yet. But here is my thinking:
1. I'm 26, still very able bodied and for the most part very healthy. It seems like the perfect time to run 26 miles.
2. I've had a crappy year so in order to turn the crappy around why not commit myself into training for something not crappy 5-6 days a week.
3. How many people can say that they've completed a marathon? I will be one of those people. (I said completed because at this point I'm not guaranteeing that I will "run" the entire marathon.)
Nope, I don't like running. I never have. When I was in the best shape of my life I was playing college basketball and running 5 miles every other day. However, I was cursing like a sailor at my coach every time we made a pass. So, that about sums up how I feel about running. I can do it. I can do it for the most part very well. Do I like to do it? Nope. I actually think I might hate it. Am I going to do it? YES. Have I completely lost my mind? Probably.
Wish me luck. And if you see me running around in circles in the hood. Please honk and wave your uplifting cheers of encouragement. I am definitely going to need it. (I apologize in advance if I don't look very happy.)
