A little reminder.

The picture above is a dog named Wink. This picture is from Wink's first day in her new home.

I knew her as Julia and we met in January. In my time of knowing her she had a terrible series of eye infections which resulted in ulcers, which then ultimately resulted in her losing her left eye. It was for the best.

Most of her time with us she wore a cone because she wouldn't allow her poor infected eye to heal properly. It irritated her. Eventually she was able to lose the cone along with her eye and for a little while I didn't recognize the new cone-less dog.

It never really made sense why people would pass on meeting Julia. She is a great dog; happy, friendly, good with other dogs, smart, playful, not too big yet not too small... Everything you would want in a dog.

I would always theorize it was because of the cone. Who would want to take home a dog that always had to wear a cone? But once she no longer needed the cone people would still pass her by....

Did I mention what a great dog she is?

On Saturday Julia was adopted. Her guardian named her Wink and she now has an equally scruffy sibling to hang out with.

It's been a bit stressful and a bit gloomy lately. I almost forgot to remember adoption stories like Wink's.

We do it for dogs like Wink. Don't forget why we rescue.
