WallyWonderDog
On a planet, in a universe, not too far away exists a species of very tiny beings.
By earth standards they are an odd group. A very odd group indeed. A very odd group that happens to be very obsessed with their earthling neighbors. They've spent a little while observing human behavior. A little while but actually not that long. But they needed to know more.
One day they decided to infiltrate. They needed "boots on the ground" - as they say.
It really was the only answer to gather all the most important information. It really was the only way. There was just one problem - limited technology. No machine they have will allow them to create a mock human. Hands and fingers and toes and feet and eyes and eyeballs. It is just too complicated.
Man's best friend. Of course of course. It was a very obvious decision. The humans will obviously spend every minute with the creature. And the humans will obviously be completely obsessed. They will schedule him to only be there for a short amount of time.

What's the next best thing to an actual human?
Man's best friend. Of course of course. It was a very obvious decision. The humans will obviously spend every minute with the creature. And the humans will obviously be completely obsessed. They will schedule him to only be there for a short amount of time.
And so he was created.
Well...
created to the best of their ability. The best of their ability with their limited technology. It was the best they could do. And they plopped him right down in the middle of...South Los Angeles.
Now you may be thinking that they got something wrong. Perhaps they could've tried a little harder on their prototype. Perhaps they could have picked a different area to guarantee an immediate placement with a companion human. But they didn't. Because after all - they had only been observing the humans for a little while and the information must be gathered quickly. After all they are very odd beings. There simply wasn't enough time to do more. So they did at the very least the best they could do at that time.
You know, for the scientific studies.
They continued on with prototype: dog 1. In randomly chosen: area 1.
How did that go you ask? He got picked up by some humans and dropped off at a "shelter"? It was at first an okay place. He got medical attention and some nice humans took care of him and fed him - but wait, they didn't take him to their dwellings. They didn't take him to their home.
The first humans didn't take him to their home - they took him to the shelter. The second, third, and fourth humans didn't take him to their home - he stayed at the shelter with the hundred or so other man's best friends.
Why? He was obviously the most handsome man's best friend that had ever been created.
It was such important information for the gathering of the information for the scientific studies.
They almost decided to abort mission. They almost admitted a failure and brought him back - after all, he was only scheduled to be on earth for a short amount of time.
Until one day some humans - who were not the same humans he had met before came to his shelter dwellings and exclaimed "he's perfect!" - this had to be good thing. This had to be a great thing.
Whatever perfect means it seemed to be a good thing for the humans and one of them scooped him up and took him to a human dwelling.
Home is the only place he could assume it to be.
But this home was obviously very odd. It seemed smaller than others they had observed. It seemed a little more crowded than others they had watched. And there were many more man's best friends than he knew humans could be best friends with.
The first report back was that he needed more time - you know, to observe the humans and all of man's best friends.
After all - his disguise was so perfect. There was no way the humans would suspect a thing. He clearly fit right in.
The humans called him many things: Wally, Wallace, Sir Wallace, dontpeetherewally, Old man
Wally Wonder Dog.
And so he got clearance that he could stay. They let him stay a little longer. To gather all the information.
The humans took him adventuring sometimes. But mostly they stayed in their dwellings. They snacked (which is actually the best part of a human day) They napped (which is the second best part of a human day) They snuggled, they sunbathed, they snacked, they had other humans visit who all said they loved him. They snuggled and snugged and snacked.
The most important thing they did is love.
Almost 2ish years went by and he finally felt he gathered all the information. After all, he was only supposed to be there for a short amount of time. Wallywonderdog had to go back. He had to return to his other worldly planet in the universe not too far away to report his findings.
In his own man's best friends way he communicated to the humans that it was time to say good bye. Because he learned that saying good bye is very important to the humans. And so they did. The humans weren't ready. But Wally was. The humans are never really ready but they said good-bye. He was proud of them for that.
It was very important that he had to leave. It was very important for him to go back to report his findings of all the information. They realized he couldn't stay forever because he was only supposed to be here for a short amount of time.
You know, for the scientific studies.

Rest easy our sweet old man. Our world has been forever changed. You were only supposed to be here for a little while but we are now having to understand a world without you. It's a little quieter but I know you are exactly where you are supposed to be. I hope you teaching them about all of the love.
