#pitbulltaxi

Pictured are all  foster-all stars that have been in my car. All of these dogs have since been adopted into loving homes. *please note the best #pitbulltaxi models in the top left hand corner Ms. T and Dozer! They are pros and I love them.

A few years ago I started volunteering for the rescue group Angel City Pit Bulls. I very quickly fell head over heals with the work they do and became more and more actively involved. Sometimes I help at events, sometimes I foster, sometimes I answer e-mails. There is a lot of things that need to be done and there are a lot of different things for everyone to do. Being an all volunteer run organization, we all do what we can in order to make day to day business run successfully.

After becoming more and more involved I noticed a trend; most of the fosters found themselves riding in my car. So I started taking their pictures IN my car. Enter the "#pitbulltaxi"

I've been trying shamelessly to get a few of these "hashtags" to trend (a very important one in particular, by the way, #dailydoseofdozer ! Because I'm convinced that Dozer's extremely good looks will make him internet famous and then Ellen famous and then America famous and we can make lots and lots of money off of him to repay us for the lots and lots of money we spend on his high maintenance allergies to the world. Sort of along the lines of the Grumpy Cat. oh, yes! we are going to be THAT famous! With book deals and celebrity appearances... clearly I've though about this.)

Anyway, back to my point, #pitbulltaxi started out as something silly. All of the different faces that I've driven around Los Angeles used to make me giggle. They all have their unique riding styles while riding in my car. Some take the classic "sit in the middle" approach, while others do the puppy dog "I'd rather be riding on your lap" move. Every now and then I get suckered by a puppy and they do get to ride on my lap but that's only if they are really tiny AND that's only if they are VERY cute (I don't advocate or support this very unsafe driving habit.) But I admit, sometimes, it happens.

Some of the fosters like to look out the window and other's just fall asleep. A few just like to stare at me, in which, I sing to them (embarrassingly a few of them have joined in with my terrible pop music renditions) And sometimes the taxi is SO full that I have to bring out the mom van, then the fosters go in crates. I've lost count of how many dogs I've driven around. But no matter what it's always an enjoyable ride.

What once was a silly thing has turned into an amazing documentation of all of the lives that I have been a part of saving. Giving them a ride may have been a small part of their journey but as always every small part is essential. It's become a record  to all the families that ACPB has contributed to. Every time Angel City adopts a dog into a loving family they complete that family. I've witnessed so many amazing families welcome wonderful dogs into their homes and continue to witness how much love and joy they all bring each other.

This year in honor of #pitbulltaxi, all of the families, and all of the volunteers I will be running my very first 5K. Previously I posted that I will be training for the marathon, which I'm still training for and still very much planning on doing. But, I figured I should probably partake in a few races before the BIG race.

Please, if you have a few extra bucks and a few extra minutes, visit my Fundraising Page and help me reach my goal and support my efforts to support the work Angel City Pit Bulls is doing throughout Los Angeles.

and long live the #pitbulltaxi (please, take it, use it, instagram it, tweet it. hashtag it. I really want it to go viral. Seriously!)
